On Saturday November 11 Ballinasloe's Under 16 footballers drew their County Final match with near neighbours St Kerrill's on a score line of 1-8 to 0-11. In a very tense game played in Corofin. Ballinasloe took time to find their feet, and trailed by 0-5 to 0-2 at half time, before a much improved second half performance brought them back into the match. That second half was highlighted by a cracking David Freeman goal which left Ballinasloe leading by two points, 1-8 to 0-9, with five minutes left. However two late frees enabled St Kerrill's to earn a replay, and that game is scheduled to take place this coming weekend in Mountbellew. On the day, a draw was a fair result, as neither team deserved to lose, and notable performers for Ballinasloe included, Marcus Kelly, Niall Stankard, Kieran Broderick, Padraic Cunningham, Ronan O'Healy and Darragh Burke. |
