To deliver inclusive local authority services for County Galway through effective civic leadership and democratic participation.
Galway County Council is responsible for the administrative area of County Galway, excluding Galway City and Ballinasloe Urban District. The Council is responsible for the planning, design and construction of important infrastructures, such as roads, water supply, drainage facilities and certain social and quasi-social services, such as housing, fire stations, libraries and burial grounds. It is the custodian of the environment and through its planning and environment policies seeks to enhance the county while protecting its unique character and atmosphere. It also plays an active role in the development of the county's industrial, business, social, arts, heritage and cultural affairs.
Some of the services which are available in the Ballinasloe Civic (Galway County Council) Offices include:
Planning
- Pre-planning meetings with planner responsible for Ballinasloe Electoral Area are held every Wednesday morning.
- All appointments are made via the planning section of the County Hall in Galway. Tel: +353 (0)91 509000.
Roads
- Road opening licence applications forms are available from the Ballinasloe Civic Offices.
- Meetings with Area Engineers to discuss issues regarding roads, hedge trimming, signs, drainage and other issues.
Water and Sewerage
- Application forms are available during office hours for connection to public water supply or sewerage schemes.
Cemeteries
- Application for erection of headstones at all Cemeteries throughout the Ballinasloe area are available on request.
Customer Satisfaction
- The public can submit details of any hazards e.g. broken footpaths, missing road signs throught the Ballinasloe Civic Offices. This does not include housing estates. Forms are available at the reception.
Motor Tax Department
- Motor Tax, Driving Licence services are available.
- Public Opening Hours: 9:00am-3.00pm (Monday to Friday) - Open during lunch hours.

Enviornment
- The Community Wardens can be contacted outside normal working hours.
- This service deals with illegal dumping, abandoned vehicles, animal welfare issues etc.
- The dog warden for the Ballinasloe area can be contacted on 087 6784570.
