Town’s Under 21 National Eircom League Team secured a hard – earned draw in their most recent fixture against the Mayo League at the Curragh Grounds last week. The town should in fact have secured all 3 points as for periods in the second half they bombarded the Mayo goal but couldn’t finish. Mayo although down to 10 men for the second half after they had a man red carded , defended vigourously and proved very dangerous on the counter attack. While the Town were disappointed not to have won – it nevertheless secured another positive result in this the most competitive League in the country. Ballinasloe’s two previous League games against Galway United and Kildare County resulted in 2 – Nil defeats in each but the valueable experience gained by this very young talented team several of which are part of the successful Under 18 team will surely stand to them for next season. The side are looking forward to their remaining two League fixtures away to Salthill Devon FC and at home to Longford Town. The Club would like to commend and thank Paraic Concannon of Mace Supermarket Brackernagh for sponsoring the Kildare County Game, Seamus Duffy and AIB for sponsoring the Galway United Game and Cathal Concannon of Spar Society St. and Express Stop Harbour Road for sponsoring the Mayo League Game and indeed Downey’s Bar who are their Eircom League main sponsor. |
