The arms show a tower triple towered with golden chains descending from the battlements derived from the O'Kelly arms. The two swords represent St. Michael, the patron saint of the town. The wavy bar symbolises the local river, and the horse in the lower part represents the great fairs in Ballinasloe.
Per fess wavy azure and argent, a fess wavy counter-changed in chief between two swords erect proper, pommels and hilts or, a tower triple-towered of the second, from the battlements descending as many chains of the fourth, and in base a horse forcenesable.
