The Town's under 16's played were pitched against a very strong Real Tubber side from Sligo in this Connaght Cup decider. Conditions in St Enda's were far from ideal, with both teams finding the turf heavy.

The first half saw the two sides on level terms 0-0. The home side started the brighter in the second half, and after 20 minutes a fine strike from Jason Clogher hit the cross-bar bounced down and was finished home by Alan Mannion 1-0.

The Sligo lads returned but could not penetrate the Town Lads defense, and so Ballinasloe won out on the narrowest of margins. Players of note were Stephen Carroll, Jason Clogher, Mike Madden and John Ward.Result - Ballinasloe Town A.F.C. 1-0 Real Tubber A.F.C.
