Thursday, 01 February 2007
St. Grellan's Football Committee had a good turnout at their EGM which was held on Friday night January 26 in Gullane's Hotel. The main purpose of the meeting was the election of Officers for the coming year and elected on the night were:
President Mattie Ganly,
Chairman Sean Tully,
Vice Chairman, Aidan Dooley,
Secretary, Mark Ward,
Assistant Secretary, Pat Smyth
Treasurer Sean Kelly.
Elected Chairman Sean Tully paid particular tribute to the dedicated work of outgoing Officers Pat Smyth and Owen Jennings, who he said had worked hard for the good of the Club.

He welcomed both the Ballinasloe GAA Chairperson Aidan McGrath, and Hurling Club Chairman Jim Lally, both of whom were in attendance at the meeting. The Chairman indicated that there was "much work to do in the Club" but with Officers now in place for this year "that work could now commence in earnest".

Meanwhile the Ballinasloe GAA Club has recommenced their weekly Progressive 25 card game in Downey's Bar, with the first game having taken place on Thursday night last January 25. The winners on that night were Seamus Duffy and Willie Dolan, while in second place, was Mickey Coffey and Martin Stack.

Cards will now continue every Thursday night in Downey's Bar at 9.30pm and new players are most welcome.
