Ballinasloe's Senior Team made the away trip to Ballyhaunis last Sunday week in the third round of the Connacht Junior League and came away with a well merited victory over the home side. Following on from their two lacklustre performances where they were defeated by Creggs and Gort, Sunday's morale boosting win by 17 points to 5 was very welcome. On a day that was ideal for rugby Ballyhaunis made the visitors fight all the way in a rugged but fair encounter. Ballinasloe's win was built around a hard working pack of forwards that became more dominant as the game wore on. Scorers for Ballinasloe were Andy O' Hara and Eamon Brophy a try each , Cathal Brophy a penalty and two conversions. At underage the Under 16s lost by 15 pts to 3 against Galwaeigans at home. The scoreline flattered the winners somewhat who were made to work hard for their win. |
