I only heard my brother Mick talking about the Clarence and all the different groups that played there over the years (40 or thereabouts) that he lived over there. In fact he lived in Manor Place for years as Lee would well know..

Hello again Ger,
Yes you are correct, I did appear at The Clarence many times back in the late
1980s. I may be wrong but did your mum also come from St Brendan's? If I'm
right, then I think she may have lived at number 12 or 13, but 60 years can play
games with the memory.
Talking about Paddy Bradley, check out our school photo 2nd class 1949. Paddy is 3rd from the left in the 2nd row and I'm 5th from the left, second row. Maybe you could make a print and send it to him? My goodness, hard to believe that was 61 years ago.
Good luck to you and yours Ger,
Lee

Hi Lee and Skinner
Thanks for the replies, Your right Lee mum lived at no 13 I am told, The pub is now private flats but the area has not changed much overall.
Do you know Frank Lynch he was a great friend of my mums and used to come over from kentish town to visit us in waterloo, we last saw him at my dads funeral 3 years ago. (He came from Ballinasloe as far as I know)
As i mentioned on an earlier post I was in Ballinasloe a few weeks back and had a great time and was surprised to see so many relative's that I did not know I had.
This all came about from putting a post on here a year or so ago and a wonderful woman called Breda Brennan saw it and found me on facebook and we have been in contact ever since.
All the best to you both
Ger

Now there's a coincidence Ger. I've been wondering for ages whatever happened to Frank Lynch and his younger brother Benny. They came to many of my shows back in the late 60s early 70s. Did you know they were also brought up in number 13 St Brendan's alongside brothers Seamus, Michael and Christy? I think there was also a pretty young lady called Imelda living at that address. I'm told she is married and living in Athlone.
I had a message from Seamus Lynch's granddaughter a few weeks ago asking if I was related, as she was trying to put a family tree together. I had to tell her that there were three unrelated families of Lynch's living at No 1, 13 and 34 St Brendan's Terrace back in the old days. I've just remembered Ger, I think your mother's maiden name was Keighrey?
Memories are made of this,
Lee

Hi Ger,
Benny Lynch is back here living in town for the past couple of years; he likes the horses but doesn't bother with the drink at all.
Was in Grenham's pub for a while this morning (Sat) where I was talking to Padraic Moran (he's back living here since 2002 up beside the old homestead of the Kellys' in Poolboy - hymany's father's home) and was telling him that I was on the web to you about all the Wade brothers having passed away. He knew all about your family and said that your father left for England years ago witha girl from up beside him and that he never returned home after that. He also said that three of the Wade sisters are still living.

Hello Pat Joe,
If you click back to page two of this topic you will see I mentioned some names about a year or so ago. Indeed it was this very topic that started me off on my
sometimes crazy ramblings on the forum. I think it was Derrybawn that mentioned that I had passed away and your good self who brought me back to life. Thank Jaysus for that. I could have been dead for years and not known about it.
Maybe some of the older shams can add some more names to my list? I will also have another good look through a magnifying glass. It would be interesting to know how life turned out for 2nd class of 1949.
Good luck Pat Joe,
Lee

Hi Lee and Skinner
Thanks for your replies, Skinner sadly only 2 of my aunts are around and living just outside london ,(ester & betty)
Lee, This will get you going, we found out in April this year that Imelda is our sister and there is a brother as well (Jack)We met Imelda in Athlone on our recent trip and she is a wonderful woman, but Jack did not want to know about us which is ok with us as he has led his own life and wants to keep it that way.
I have a sister and brother in london (Anne & Austin)There is a big mystery about all this which we cannot solve as in why Imelda & Jack was left in Ballinasloe when my parents came to england.
We tried to ask our aunt ester but they would not pass on any info, You can see my mum in Imelda's face thats for sure but we are not sure who her father was and nobody seems to know, or people know but do not want to tell us.
But as far as having another sister we are all ok with that and I myself could not wait to meet her
I have e-mailed your school photo to my cousin in Ballinasloe who will take it to Paddy in the near future and thanks for info you have passed on to me it has been a great help.
Good health to you all
Ger

Hi my name is Dympna Lynch, I am Pat Lynch's daughter, who is one of Sheamus Lynch's son's from St Brendan terrace. I have been in contact with Lee Lynch who has been very helpful, and told me that I might be able to get some information on this forum of my family as I am trying to trace my Great Granmother's maternal line, her name was Kitty Lynch, but unfortunately I do not know her maiden name. In fact I do not know very much of my Father's family history at all. Any info would be great, if anyone knows of anyone who has old photos , they would be a bonus also..

Hello again Pat Joe,
Well it looks like we've hit the jackpot, because if memory serves me right
there's two Tom Madden's in the school photo. They are situated 3rd and 4th from left, in the front row. Pretty sure they both came from out the ball alley way. As
a matter of fact one of them sat with me in school. Little did we know the day
that photo was taken that it would be discussed on something called a computer 61 years later.
Ah, it's a strange and wonderful world.

Hey young Skinner,
I think that you are the very man to help Dympna gather the info regarding her great gran Kitty Lynch, or Katie, as I used to call her. Let me break it down for you.
Katie was Benny Lynch's mum (who may have come from Donegal) and seeing that you have told us Benny is back in town, maybe you can have a quick chat with him and pass it on to the lovely Dympna? I'm sure Benny will remember his mum's maiden name and her place of birth. While you're at it Skinner, tell him I said hello.

Hello once again Ger,
I'm delighted to hear that you found your long lost sister Imelda. Those things
usually only happen in the movies. It was about a year ago that I learned she
was married and living in Athlone. She had found me on Youtube and told a friend that she thought I looked like a film star when I visited Ballinasloe back in
the 60s. I sent back a message to tell her that I looked like two film stars
now------------Laurel and Hardy.
It just goes to show how time can sometimes dim the memory. When you mentioned your new found brother Jack I was completely stumped. Then it dawned on me that you meant Jacko Keighrey. I remember Jacko very well. We used to have many a chat whenever I paid a fleeting visit to the old home town back in the early days.
It's a pity you did not get a chance to meet because the Jacko Keighrey I used
to know was a very nice guy indeed. Who knows Ger, maybe one day, maybe one day.
Be happy,
Lee
