We have many ex pats returned home  after working abroad for 20 to  30  40  years.        These people left on the Mail boat from Dunlaoighrey or the cattle boat fromt the north wall to Birkenhead .      If they were lucky and were not committted to the CHRISTAIN SOLUTION ie orphanages  before they departed ,at least they had a balanced personality. The people I know and are friends of mine left Ireland to survive and when they retired ,returned to a an artificial land of full and plenty. Some were from orphanages and more  luckily were not .I wonder where the Knights Of Colambanus fit into the equation of the judiicarry placing unfortunate children at the disposal of the the freaks of respictable families who who had hidden them in the "Christain "brothers and any other type of brothers rather than placing them in facilities like St Brigids and facing up to reality.Thesen hyprocrites  happily said their Rosary every night while their abnormal offspring abused children of parent/s in hard circumstances.

Titus, I think you would get the best deal on Ryanair site, most of the ones at the airport will rip you off.

I hope the weather stays good for you as it is just brilliant here as I type.

Enjoy.

car hire in dublin is expensive and not possible if you don't have your own credit card, best bet is to book early. ( i got caught once)

2 good copanies are www.autoeurope.com  or www.arguscarhire.com they are both brokers and shop around  the car hire companies to get you the best deal..

the sooner you book the car hire the cheaper it is (in july and august anyway) prices come down again in sept.

It would be great to meet up with you - my brother Tony from London told me he met up with you last October at the Fair.
The main pubs I drink in are; The Usual, Grenham's and Joe's Bar..

Hello Brendan,   That's right, I met Tony last October, he was telling me about where he lived in London, around the Elephant and Castle is all I remember now though, that's oul age as they say in Polboy !!  Brendan , where is the Usual, the other two I know, have you spent any time in the UK yourself, I'm living in Newcastle upon Tyne as you probably know by now. Paddy I  Loughnane was with Tony on that day in October, we had a nice chat. The Fair is great for meeting up with people, but maybe if you live in Ballinasloe you meet lots of these  people all the time. For me it's great, because I don't get back every Fair.

God Bless Brendan, and I'll keep a watch out for you in  July/ August.

Hello Marman,  just saw your post today and yes it is the same ROSALEEN TOHER who used to live on Dunlo Hill and yes I was good friends with Eamon Elder.  Don't know who you really are but it would be nice to chat about old memories etc.. and you can email me anytime.  I will be home during the summer months possibly late July or early August but it would be nice to catch up sometime.

Thanks Pollbly for telling me where the Usual is, across from Gulanes, not a problem to find it then.
Hello Mc Alpine, sorry forgotten your first name, I'll have a real pint of the Black stuff for you in Ballinasloe, and I might meet you in October for the Fair, do you know Michael Mulvihill from out the Athlone road, where you turn in for Pearses Club?
Hello Rosie and Marman  ,meself and Eamon Elder went to Garbally together, Eamon liked to fish the Suck when we were in first year,  now we were on our way to Garbally one Monday morning and Eamon told me he caught a 38 pound Pike on Sunday evening somewhere up the Suck, well did I believe him, no way, till that evening after school  when he took me into the shed at the back of his grannies house to show me the huge Pike.Eamon stayed with his Granmother and his Uncle Frank Ryan two doors from us, eamon and Socks have been in Canada for as long as I can remember, it would have been 1975 the last time I saw Eamon, scary, that's 34 years ago !!!!  Take care now
             Hymany.
