Hello everyone,

Apologies for the lateness but I was watching the world cup. Well done Spain

I’m a long time reader of this forum but never felt brave enough to post until now and that is for the simple reason, I have a small query that I can’t seem to get an answer for and I was wondering if some one who uses this site could help me.
While my wife and I were out walking recently we noticed a young man running up past Beach lawn, now its not that the sight of someone exercising catches my attention but we’ve seen this young fellow on 2 or 3 separate occasions, and what caught our eye was what he was wearing a particular t-shirt blue in colour with Ballinasloe Cancer Support Centre on the front and running against cancer on the back.

His face was some what familiar but we couldn’t truly say we knew him and I was wondering has anyone else seen him on the road of an evening, now obviously he’s doing something in relation to the Ballinasloe cancer centre and I applaud this but I wasn’t going to stop the man while he was running to ask him, so I would be most appreciative if some one on this site would have either a contact number for the cancer centre so I can ask them or even better could enlighten us as to what this running against cancer is about as we recently lost a loved one to the disease and would like to support.

Thanking you in advance

Tony

cant help with who the runner might be, but the cancer support group have an office at the back of the pizza place on society street entered via hills archway, if you call in there they will be able to tell you how you can support them you might find a visit might help yourself in the loss you have suffered

Sorry ,but can't help you with the jogger but here is the only info I have to hand:-

         "Ballinasloe Cancer Support Centre,

              Society St

                Ballinasloe ,

                 Telephone  0879452300

                      Email :  ballinasloecancer@yahoo.co.uk
The premises can be accessed as described by creaghawk through the archway at the mobile phone shop and I understand that anyone who has been either directly or indirectly affected by cancer can avail of a helpful hearing and a qualified facilitator is available.People who have availed of this service have told me that they found consolation and support there.Sorry for your sad loss.

A very warm Thank you to both PJ and Creaghawk for your kind words,

And on a positive note I found out whom my mystery runner was, it’s a young man by the name of Ken Campbell and he’s running the Dublin city Marathon in October in aid of the Cancer Centre and that’s why he’s wearing the t-shirts. Now forgive me for been so inquisitive but would that be the same Ken Campbell that use to post on this forum?

Kind regards

Tony
